Multicultural Overnight Program
"What is the Multicultural Overnight Program?"
The Multicultural Overnight Program is one of DRIVE's main events where every Spring semester out-of-state high school seniors who identify themselves as multicultural on the common application are invited to campus to stay overnight and get the opportunity to experience what college life ad URI is like!
This event is over the course of two different weekends where these students are given the chance to participate in various activities such as attending a college class, learning more about URI's Center for Student Leadership Development, eating in the dining halls, and sleeping overnight in a residence hall. Along with getting that college experience beforehand, these students also take part in many interactive and enjoyable activities such as a scavenger hunt, student panel, dance battle, and more! |
"How can I get involved?"
There TWO different ways current URI students can get involved with this event:
(1) Day Host
Being a day host means assisting throughout the day with any activities going on such as the greeting, scavenger hunt, student panel, or any other activities planned. Overall, it's the idea of connecting and engaging with the students while sharing experiences or answering any questions to make sure they get the most out of this experience. This position is available for both on-campus and off-campus students. (2) Overnight Host Being an overnight host means that this student will allow a prospective student to stay the night with them in their residence hall. The overnight host will be responsible for the prospective student from about 6pm-8am where they will them drop them off to their family at the MOP breakfast. Students interested in this MUST live on campus. |
